A sixty year-old patient reported with constantly
breaking down composite restorations due to bruxism. It
was decided to place six anterior porcelain-metal crowns.
Jackets were contra-indicated due to the forces of
traumatic occlusion.
Porcelain butt-joint margins with open window
metal cut-backs as described by Geller were used.
This technique allows for more light to be refracted
at the gingival margins. The middle photograph shows
the coping try-in. Note the design of the metal,
which is 1mm shy of the shoulder of the preparation.
